Topic: Polygamy

A.      INTRODUCTION

Thesis Statement: Polygamy should be prohibited because it has bad effects for family life.

B.      BODY

1. Counterargument       : Some people believe that conflict will not occur in a polygamous family if the husband can be fair in managing his two families’ life.

Argument               : Conflict often occurs in a polygamous family.

Support                 : There are many cases of conflict in a family that is because of the jealousy among family members.

2.       Counterargument   : Some people believe that polygamy will not lead to a divorce.

Argument               : In reality, there are many divorce cases caused by polygamy

Support                 : One of the examples is AA Gym’s divorce.

3.   Counterargument     : The children will accept the polygamy and they will be able to adjust the situation.

Argument                   : Not all children can adjust with the polygamy situation and it will make the children’s psychological development be bad.

Support                      : Children run away from home as the result of their father’s polygamy.

 

C.      CONCLUSION

   It would be better to prohibit polygamy before our family life get bad effect from it.

 Polygamy

Polygamy is currently getting a lot done. Actually polygamy brings many problems in a family life, but some people support it because it doesn’t conflict with religion. In my opinion, polygamy should be prohibited because it has bad effects for family life.

Some people believe that conflict will not occur in a polygamous family if the husband can be fair in managing his two families’ life. However, it must also be recognized that conflict often occurs in a polygamous family because the husband cannot be fair when managing his two families’ life well at the same time. There are many cases of conflict in a family that is because of the jealousy among family members. For an example, husband’s excessive attention to his new wife will make his old wife be jealous.

Some people believe that polygamy will not lead to a divorce. However, in reality, there are many divorce cases caused by polygamy. Let’s take an example of polygamy case conducted by AA Gym. At the first time, the life of AA Gym’s polygamy worked well, but several years later, the situation changed. AA Gym got divorced with his first wife.

There are some husbands who think that the most important person to be asked for permission before doing polygamy is their wife and they also think that they do not need to ask permission to their children because their children will be able to adjust to the situation. However, in, reality, not all children can receive these kind of situation and if it happened, the children’s psychology development will be bad. There are some cases found about the children who run away from their house because they are disappointed with their father who do polygamy.

Prohibiting polygamy is the best way to save your family. Remember! Polygamy doesn’t only give the bad effect for you but also your family. It can make conflict that brings out the divorce. Not only that, polygamy gives the bad effect on your children’s psychology. So, the decision is in your hand whether you want to choose your family or your desire to do polygamy.
